What are Virtues, Vices and Sins?

The mission of the Humanistic Temple of Alkebulan church is to promote truth and spiritual enlightenment, virtuous living, self-reliance and empower humans to maximize their human potential while being in harmony with nature and the natural order of the universe. The institution is grounded by its code of 20 universal virtues called the Temple Code. The institution promotes virtuous living, rejecting vices, and does not acknowledge sin. To fully understand, one must understand what exactly virtues, vices, and sins are.

Virtues

A virtue is a positive moral or ethical attribute, such as honesty, courage, or kindness, that is considered good or desirable in a person. Virtues are generally seen as qualities that contribute to a person's character and are often associated with positive outcomes such as personal well-being, social harmony, and moral excellence. Humans can create an environment free of suffering when the people learn, accept and implement the virtues of humanity.

Vices

A vice, on the other hand, is a negative moral or ethical attribute, such as dishonesty, cowardice, or cruelty, that is considered bad or undesirable in a person. Vices are often seen as qualities that detract from a person's character and are associated with negative outcomes such as personal distress, social conflict, and moral corruption. The Humanistic Temple of Alkebulan church wants to create an environment where people can receive support to help reject these negative attributes.

Sins

A sin is a transgression of divine or moral law, typically seen as an offense against God or against society's moral standards. Sin is often associated with religious or spiritual contexts and is considered to be a violation of one's duty or obligations to a higher

power or to the community at large. The Humanistic Temple of Alkebulan church does not recognize thoughts or behavior as sins because it adheres to the natural order of the universe and believes universal virtues of good and bad exists regardless of any religious book or doctrine.

Importance

People should know about virtues, vices, and sins because they provide a framework for understanding and evaluating human behavior. By recognizing and cultivating virtues in ourselves and others, we can promote personal and social well-being, and contribute to the common good. Conversely, by recognizing and avoiding vices and sins, we can avoid harmful behavior and promote ethical and moral excellence in ourselves and others. Understanding these concepts can help us navigate the complexities of human relationships and make more informed decisions in our personal and professional lives.
